What does Langford Parish Council do?

A good look at the annual budget will tell us where the money is being spent. This is available to the public for scrutiny at any time.

 

Some major or significant activities that Langford Parish council is or has been involved in are listed below:

 

  Managing and financing some street lighting

  Managing and financing cutting of grass verges

  Maintenance of the war memorial

  Provision of burial space

  Helping with funding of the youth club

  Help with funding the village Hall

  Managing and financing the playing field

  Providing play equipment and maintenance of equipment, fencing and machines

  Providing litter and dog refuse bins

  Some financial disbursements to charities

  Consulting on planning and road traffic issues (e.g. housing developments, shops, traffic calming, etc)

  Lobbying police for more support and further involvement in speed monitoring and crime prevention

  Lobbying Mid Beds District Council and County Council for support

  Advising County and District Councils on local housing issues

  Providing Village signs, seats,  notice-boards, etc

  Lobbying to keep footpaths open, for more lay-by parking spaces, to keep shops open, to keep doctor’s surgery open

  Lobbying on public transport

  Provision of a quarterly newsletter

  Support for the “Welcome booklet”, footpath map

  Consulting over sites for bus shelters

  Part funding capital projects such as traffic claming measures, Village Hall improvements, sports facilities improvements, IT equipment at school, improvements to the Common, Town Land, etc
